Twindig Housing Market Index (HMI) - 15 May 21

In the week where the Halifax reported that average UK house prices reached an all-time high and with Help to Buy house purchases also setting a record high in Q4 2020, investor confidence took a moment and stepped back a little, perhaps indicating that travelling is better than arriving and they want to eke out the journey. The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) reported that housing demand currently exceeded supply which is likely to underpin further house price growth to the dismay of first-time buyers but the delight of homeowners. Falling mortgage rates should however put a smile on the faces of first-time buyers and homeowners alike.
